Balance – Ability – Strength – Independence – Support

BASIS Clinic is a student-led initiative dedicated to improving the lives of older adults (65+) in the Shire of Manjimup. Through community-based support, the clinic enhances healthcare access and empowers individuals to maintain their independence, health, and well-being.

For Older Adults: Personalised Support to Stay Healthy

Living in a rural community comes with unique challenges. The BASIS Clinic provides a welcoming and professional service to help you maintain independence and improve your wellbeing. Our services include:

Home Assessments – Evaluations to ensure your home environment supports your health and mobility.
Exercise Programs – Individually tailored plans to improve strength, balance, and overall physical health.
Health & Wellbeing Support – Guidance for managing chronic conditions and enhancing daily function.
Community Connection – Join group meetings led by clinical students, featuring presentations on staying healthy and safe at home. Enjoy coffee while connecting with others.

For Health Professionals Referring Patients

The BASIS Clinic offers an evidence based program delivered by allied health professional students supervised by experienced clinicians. Eligible participants will be older adults who have, or who are waiting for home care packages.

Our clinic provides:

Enhanced Access to Healthcare – Supporting rural patients with in-home assessments and exercise interventions.
Student-Led, Supervised Services – Occupational Therapy and Exercise Physiology students gaining hands-on experience while delivering quality care.

Placement Opportunities for Students

BASIS Clinic also serves as a vital learning environment for students pursuing careers in Occupational Therapy and Exercise Physiology. Placements provide practical experience in rural healthcare, allowing students to apply their knowledge while making a meaningful impact on the community.
