UDRH SW popup at National Rural Health Conference in Perth
University Department of Rural Health South West (UDRH SW) staff presented at the September National Rural Health Conference held at the Convention Centre in Perth and hosted a booth promoting both UDRH South West and the ECU SW Nursing and Midwifery program based in Bunbury.
UDRH Lecturer Fiona Hildebrand presented on her PhD study surrounding an innovative clinical supervision model to support remote area nurses.
UDRH SW Director Professor Beth Armstrong presented with research colleagues Kerri Colegate (ECU) and Associate Professor Judy Katzenellenbogen (UWA) on their work with Aboriginal communities across WA in the field of brain injury (stroke and traumatic brain injury).
Fiona continues to gather data from interviews with nurses from a range of remote nursing experience, feeding into the development of the model and received a lot of interest at the conference.
Beth is currently working on a national project exploring recovery from concussion, facilitating a sub-study of the larger project which focuses on Aboriginal peoples’ experience of concussion including facilitators and barriers to recovery.
