Young Learners Celebrate at Children’s University Graduation

Children’s University Graduation Bunbury

Excitement filled the air as young students from four South West primary schools celebrated their achievements at the Children’s University (CU) graduation.

A momentous milestone for the Children’s University (CU)  program took place on Saturday, 22 February 2025, as CU held its first South West graduation ceremony at the Lord Forrest Hotel in Bunbury. The event was a celebration of the achievements of 33 young graduates from the South West, marking the first cohort to complete the Children’s University program in the region. These graduates, along with their families, were part of a special celebration, which included a graduation street parade through Symmonds and Victoria Street.

The University Department of Rural Health South West (UDRH SW) has proudly partnered with ECU’s Children’s University (CU) to provide financial support from 2024 onwards, strengthening educational engagement for young learners in the region. The CU aims to inspire a passion for lifelong learning from an early age, widening participation and supporting students from diverse backgrounds in their journey towards higher education.

ECU’s Children’s University recently worked with 88 CU members across four primary schools in the South West: Australind Primary School, Clifton Park Primary School, Dalyellup Primary School, and Leschenault Catholic Primary School.

The Children’s University offers a range of extracurricular learning opportunities for children, including hands-on ECU school holiday programs. This initiative helps students engage in learning beyond the classroom, reinforcing their commitment to education and personal growth. The graduation event showcased the success of the program and sparked excitement within the local community, inspiring other young learners to set and achieve their own educational goals.

As the program continues to grow, the Children’s University remains a vital resource in fostering a love for learning and supporting the educational journeys of children in the South West. With the backing of UDRH SW and ECU, this initiative is paving the way for more young learners to access educational opportunities and realise their full potential.
