Welcome Leandra Healy –Clinical Education Coordinator

UDRH SW Team at the Bunbury Office welcoming Leandra Healy

We’re thrilled to welcome Leandra Healy as the new Clinical Education Coordinator at the South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS).

Leandra is based at SWAMS and will be working closely with the University Department of Rural Health (UDRH SW) to facilitate placement organisation and cultural orientation programs for students undertaking clinical placements in the South West. Her role is key in supporting students to engage meaningfully with Aboriginal clients and develop a deeper understanding of culturally safe practice during their rural placements.

Leandra steps into the role following the incredible work of Ellie Newport, who was instrumental in establishing our student placement programs across disciplines including Optometry and Social Work, in partnership with SWAMS. Ellie’s contributions have shaped the direction of the program, and her presence will be greatly missed as she returns to her previous role at the Busselton clinic.

Through our valued partnership with SWAMS, students gain hands-on experience and enhanced cultural learning in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health settings unique to the South West.

We’re excited to see the program continue to grow under Leandra’s guidance, and we look forward to the positive impact her leadership will bring to students and the communities they serve.
