On 3rd June 2026, more than 100 Year 10 students from across the South West came together for Futures in Focus 2026, an engaging and interactive healthcare careers expo designed to inspire the next generation of regional health professionals.

Facilitated by ECU’s Future Students team at the ECU South West Campus, and proudly supported by UDRH SW, the event welcomed students from Australind Senior High School, Bunbury Catholic College, Busselton Senior High School, Collie Senior High School, Dalyellup College, Harvey Senior High School, Our Lady of Mercy College, Margaret River Senior High School and Newton Moore Senior High School.

UDRH SW staff and students played an active role throughout the day, with UDRH SW staff  Emily Jackson, Beth Hastie, Karyn Hetherington, Wayne Goodrem and Ari Aldus plus UDRH SW students Ceridwen Pover, Patsy Moore, Blake Clemo and Cohen Thompson helping to showcase the breadth of healthcare opportunities available to study at ECU such as:

  • Dietetics
  • Nursing and Midwifery
  • Speech Pathology
  • Paramedicine
  • Occupational Therapy

Students also engaged with a UDRH SW educational stall staffed by Bec Colbung, Lecturer in Indigenous Knowledges, and Abigail Lewis, Senior Lecturer and Speech Pathologist, which focused on exploring and demystifying healthcare careers . Through a dotmocracy activity, students identified the professions they were most curious about, with Sonography, Exercise Physiology and Nursing the most frequently raised.

UDRH SW was also joined by teams from ECU, SWAMS, Kingston First Response and West Coast Eagles – all prepared to answer any question and support students career queries.

UDRH SW is proud to support initiatives facilitated by ECU’s Future Students team and remains committed to inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals in the South West.
